Wonderful Colorful Nigerian Calabash Shekere
(Bead and Gourd Rattle)

This Large Nigerian Calabash Shekere (Shaker/rattle) is made with colorful beads woven into a netting around a hollowed gourd. 

This is a traditional rattle found through out Africa in this or similar form. You can play it a variety of ways, you can shake it, twist it, tap it, tug on the netting whatever urge strikes you is great.  They sound better the more they are used!  This one is rather large, the bulp portion apx. 10" diameter, and the entire shaker 12" tall (long).   It is large and very colorful so shows well on stage. Great for most bands and drum circles.
